I specialize in teaching children through 4th grade.  The majority of the children that I have helped have been significantly behind their peers in reading.  By tailoring each lesson to the immediate needs of the child, success is quickly seen.  Goal setting and review is a fundamental practice behind my technique; therefore, is incorporated during the initial session.

Each program is designed with the strengths and needs of the child in mind. Formats may include an emphasis on phonemic awareness, reading comprehension, decoding, or writing.  Another option available is a systematic, sequential, multi-sensory approach that is recommended for children with dyslexia or characteristics of dyslexia.  I look forward to sharing more information about the various program models with you when we assess your child's learning needs and develop his or her individual learning plan.

Peggy Miller

Reading Interventionist

I have worked with Peggy Miller for the past ten years in the Raymore-Peculiar School District.  I have witnessed her ability to turn struggling readers into successful, confident readers.  After identifying their reading strengths and weaknesses, Peggy develops and implements lessons that lead to reading success. Students see Peggy Miller as a kind, respectful teacher that holds high expectations through a low stress learning environment.  Professionalism is what parents and co-workers see in Peggy.  Her strong work ethic, vast knowledge of reading elements, and efficient organizational skills have led Peggy Miller to become an exceptional teacher of reading.

Instructional Coach

It has been my distinct pleasure to work with Mrs. Peggy Miller since 2006.  During this time, she has used her mastery of literacy instruction to improve the performance of numerous students in the areas of fluency and comprehension.  Mrs. Miller has, on many occasions, custom designed literacy activities and lessons to accommodate the differentiated needs of her students.  She has done all this while maintaining a pleasant and professional disposition toward students and colleagues alike.

Mrs. Miller is a wonderful candidate for any teaching position.  She combines collaborative techniques with a determination to help students achieve increased progress toward literacy.  It is inspiring to see her gifts, including amazing organization, meld together into someone who cares deeply about the success of others.

Mrs. Miller is a leader among the teachers at Timber Creek Elementary School.  She has facilitated meetings among the entire staff and faculty, coordinated schedules to satisfy the needs of the entire school, and trained teachers in using better teaching practices to improve student achievement.  Her willingness to go above and beyond has been a great help in my continued development as a reflective practitioner.

I have gotten to know Mrs. Miller this past school year as she has been my son's reading teacher at Timber Creek Elementary in Raymore, Missouri.  She has been very beneficial to our family and all she has done to improve Charles' reading skills, also in working with me to help my son at home.

Mrs. Miller has many years experience and is dedicated to the children.  All her students fell special and she strives to make reading fun and enjoyable.

I would highly recommend Mrs. Miller in tutoring your child to improve his/her reading skills and to introduce them into all the fun and exciting things reading can bring into their world.

Sincerely,

Joyce Noah

Timber Creek Elementary Parent

I have worked with Peggy Miller for several years at Timber Creek Elementary.  I have had the privilege of working with her to help students that need extra reading help to get what they need to be successful.  I admire Mrs. Miller's ability to work independently and in small groups with students.  She is able to identify their specific needs and offer them appropriate instruction accordingly.

I appreciate her ability to be flexible with students and scheduling. She is able to alter the schedule to meet the individual needs of her students.  My students really enjoy working with Mrs. Miller and show significant progress during the school year with here support.  She has a strong awareness of the needs of early readers and is able to take them from where they are and move them towards grade level expectations. I really enjoy working with her and know that my students feel the same!
